THE LAKE & STARS FALL 2011 FASHION WEEK PRESENTATION
The Lake & Stars commissioned Caroline (Spring 2011 muse and campaign star) to design the sound for their Fall 2011 Fashion Week Presentation. Taking cues from their visions of Italian neo-classicism through a 1970's lens, Caroline Polachek of the band Chairlift assembled a palette of baroque Moog synthesizers and hazed-out classical music, layered with her own custom synthesizer performances.

MAY 10, 2010: OUR SISTER LINE “DOUBLE IN BRASS” HITS STORES!
The Lake & Stars’ sister line for Urban Outfitters hits stores and UO websites (in US and UK!) May 10...
To “Double in Brass” was used originally in reference to circus performers who would play an instrument in addition to walking the tightrope. It comes from the Victorian term, which means to take on a second job.
The most exciting item in this more casual collection is The Lake & Stars’ first underwire bustier, a top that can be worn both in and out of the bedroom. Additionally, the new range features details found on their bras and bodysuits, such as the grosgrain and necktie hook closures, and the zigzag stitching along many of the seams You'll also find hook and eye tape along the backs of teddies, giving the illusion of an opening that goes all the way from front to back.

Find The Lake & Stars in CONTEMPORARY LINGERIE DESIGN,
Published by Laurence King Press
Contemporary Lingerie Design, by Katie Dominy and published by Laurence King in February 2010 features the work of 30 lingerie designers from around the world. The book brings out the individuality of each designer and provides a compelling insight into their working methods.
The design of lingerie is often seen as a mystery, even by professionals working in other sectors of the fashion industry. This book explains the processes at work and the many unexpected influences that shape the color, silhouettes, and decoration of each piece.
Kate Dominy interviews the designers, finding out what it is about 1930s Berlin, childhood ballet lessons or French cinema that has influenced their work. They also discuss styling, favorite designs, and the global market of lingerie. In the 1990s, the explosion in designer fashion became the launch pad for many young lingerie designers. The growth in small luxury labels led many to choose lingerie as their creative outlet, being conscious of fashion, but also with a clear idea of their own “lingerie world.” At the same time, many international designers extended their product line into other areas, which included lingerie alongside footwear, handbags, and fragrances. In addition, the decade saw designer lingerie spring up not only in Europe and the US, but also in countries such as Japan and Australia and major cities in South America. This trend towards lingerie designers based outside of the traditional fashion capitals will evolve as fashion finds new hotspots and enthusiastic markets worldwide.
The Lake & Stars launches a sister line: “Double in Brass”
This Spring, Urban Outfitters will be exclusively launching a collection of lingerie and loungewear designed by The Lake & Stars. As a fun, younger counterpart to the luxury line available in boutiques, Nikki and Maayan will be offering the Urban Outfitters customer something to wear in or out of the bedroom for Spring, Summer, and Fall 2010.
For those who'd like to know…to “Double in Brass” is a Victorian term for taking on a second job.
